About the Camp

About the Camp

Camp Yowochas is a year round outdoor education centre and summer camp. From September to June we offer both day and overnight bookings for field trips, corporate events, holiday parties, retreat weekends, and other private events. During July and August we run overnight camp programs at our facility.

It is our philosophy that every child should be outside, learning about nature and about themselves in the process. Campers who come to Camp Yowochas leave more confident, with new friends, more resilient and have a deeper appreciation for the natural environment. We work to build leaders in our campers and teams out of our cabin groups.

A TYPICAL DAY AT YOWOCHAS

Camp Yowochas summer camp days are focused on helping our campers build strong relationships with their cabin mates, Counsellors, and other campers in different age groups. Each day is a little different: Wednesday is cook-out and out-trip, Thursday is International Shower Day and Friday is Survival Friday. Below is a typical day schedule. Rotation activities are done as a cabin group and Choose Your Own Adventure allows campers of all ages to mix together to try activities and make new friends.

Yowochas History

YWCA Edmonton began camping programs on Lake Wabamun in 1916 in Seba Beach. Unfortunately, early records of the camp are almost non-existent and as a result, extremely little is known about the years 1907- 1946.
