THE CABINS AT YOWOCHAS
Welcome to The Cabins At Yowochas! These lakeside cabins were decorated by Edmonton designer and artist Justine Ma. All proceeds from our cabin rentals help support Camp Yowochas, a year-round outdoor education centre established in 1916 on Treaty Six territory. Camp Yowochas is operated by YWCA Edmonton, which helps vulnerable women and families in our community and is a powerful voice for gender equity. CABIN RENTALS: Amenities
The Cabins at Yowochas are modern, rustic lakeside cabin rentals in central Alberta, on the shores of Lake Wabamun. Enjoy the beauty of the natural setting while camping in the comfort of picturesque cabins with real beds – Alberta glamping at its finest! Enjoy the peace and tranquility of our camp setting at beautiful Lake Wabamun while unplugging from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Each cabin rental comes complete with our Cabin Comforts box, which includes the following: French press coffee pot, metal spatula, metal tongs, cutting board, oven mitt, cork trivet, lighter & service for 6 people (plates, bowls, mugs & utensils).
Camp stoves are also provided for each rental unit. Camp stoves are for outdoor use only and may not be used within the cabins or yurt.
Light bedding is supplied, but you may prefer to also bring additional pillows and warmer blankets for your personal comfort, especially in the cooler winter months. Slippers or thick socks brought from home will help keep your tender tootsies warm while you’re relaxing indoors.
There is no electricity in The Yurt, and while we do supply the basics, you may also prefer to bring additional flashlights and lanterns for extra light in The Yurt once the sun has set for the day. Please remember that candles and open flames are not permitted inside the cabins.
Please remember that there is no running water in any of our cabins. You will be provided with a jug of potable water and potable water is also available from the nearby washroom. Basins and dish racks will be available for you to wash your dishes.
WHAT TO BRING
The Cabins at Yowochas are designed as a modern upscale camping experience. It is a chance to enjoy all the connections with nature that one experiences while camping, while still enjoying the comfort of beds to sleep in and walls to protect you from the elements.
We supply firewood for your campfire, an outdoor camp stove with fuel, wooden benches and a picnic table, but you should plan to bring everything else you would typically need for a camping trip:
- food and beverages
- cooler to keep your food cold
- pots, pans, knives and other utensils for meal prep
- camp chairs to use around the outdoor fire for relaxation and comfort
- flashlights and/or lanterns
- weather-appropriate clothing
- cozy slippers and/or warm socks
- toiletries and personal effects
- hand sanitizer (some is provided but you may want additional/portable supplies)
- cleaning wipes
- camera
- binoculars
- games, cards and/or books
- skates (and helmets, if desired) for skating on the lake
